The Last Days of Summer

I should have been looking for an apartment this weekend, but after driving over 100 miles on Friday, I didn’t feel like driving all over on Sat. Instead I made some phone calls, but no one was home and no answering machines picked up either. So after phone calls on Saturday, I napped. The rest of the weekend was filled with hanging out with friends. :)

I played 2 new games this weekend. Friday night it was Iron Dragon with Andy and Pat. A very long game, and a very enjoyable game. And Monday night it was Hex Hex with Dale, Pat, Sarah, Andy and I. Also a very fun game.

Today was my first day at my new job. Luckily, the Center is in a very small town and I had no problem finding it. I met my staff and they all seem to be very nice people. I think that I am going to enjoy working with them, for however long that may be. . . After talking with the Early Childhood Director, I have realized that I could do more good than I thought for this program. They are emerging from a rough year. Because of my background in Special Education and my familiarity with the public school system, I will be able to build positive relationships with the local schools and the community.

This all makes me question if I should stay in this postion if offered another job. I still think I would rather be in an Early Childhood Special Education classroom, it is afterall my background. But I can already tell that this is going to be a hard desision for me to make, if and when I have to make it.

I’m still looking for a place to live. I decided this weekend to widen my search to include Rapids. It’s about 30 mins from the Center and it’s close enough to Point that I can easily go and visit friends, even durring the middle of the week. Another plus is that Rapids is a large enough population base that it sould be eaisier for me to find a month-to-month lease. At least that’s what I’m hoping. I really don’t want to sign a year lease. There is the possibility that I may be moving in a few months. . .
